1. Camilo Castelo Branco House-Museum

The house was founded in 1830 by Pinheiro Alves, the first husband of Ana Plácido. Writer Camilo Castelo Branco lived with Ana Plácido in this house for about 26 years, from 1863 until his suicide in 1890. The house was destroyed by a fire in 1915 and rebuilt in 1922 when it was transformed into the “Camilian Museum.” In the late 1940s, it underwent another restoration and has since remained very similar to the one inhabited by the novelist.

2. Textile Industry Museum

The Textile Industry Museum of Bacia do Ave was founded in 1987. . It emerged from the Industrial Archaeology Program and aims to provide greater accuracy in the treatment of the industrialization process that marked the region. Currently, it hosts various activities such as guided tours, exhibitions, conservation and restoration of equipment and machinery, among others, and represents a summary of the historical evolution of industrialization in the region.

3. Lousado Railway Museum

Open to the public in 1979, the museum is located between the Minho Line and the Guimarães Line, and it is an alternative project to the former Museological Section. Considered one of the most important centers in the national railway context, the building is part of a former official complex of the Guimarães Railway Company, with an approximate area of 1400m2. The exhibition of rolling stock, built between 1875 and 1965, is organized chronologically and aims to showcase trains of various types.

4. Bernardino Machado Museum

The Bernardino Machado Museum is located in the Barão da Trovisqueira Palace, which was commissioned by José Francisco da Cruz Trovisqueira and completed in 1857. King D. Pedro V, King D. Luís I, and Queen D. Maria Pia were received here. The idea of honoring Bernardino Machado with a Municipal Museum was born in 1983. On September 30, 1988, the Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council purchased the already deteriorated palace, establishing its restoration as a priority.

5. Devesa Park

Its construction emerged from an urban remodeling of the eastern part of the city. It is a natural space crossed by the Pelhe River, with noteworthy main facilities such as the open-air Amphitheater, the Territory House, and the Educational Services. From the park’s viewpoint, you will have a privileged view of the approximately 27-hectare area of this exotic park, reforested with native and non-native species. This park also features an artificial lake created during construction. Its presence helps control the river’s flow and improve the park’s biodiversity. An incredible space for picnics and also for sports activities.

6. Automobile Museum

In a space with three thousand square meters of exhibition area, the Automobile Museum possesses great wealth, consisting of about 150 vintage cars, motorcycles, and bicycles, portraying the evolution of automobile design and technology throughout the 20th century. Some of the museum’s highlights include a unique VEL microcar, two of the world’s only existing Rolls Royce exemplars, and five different examples of the world’s first mass-produced car, the Ford Model T.
